BiographyMy journey into Djing began through the love of music and an exposure of the clubbing scene in Birmingham and London in the late 90's. Experiencing the atmosphere of phenomenal parties such atomic jam at the Q club, Lost (still the best techno night in London), the End club bringing a host of fresh talent and sounds and the electric atmosphere of Fabric (probably the best sound system in Europe). Watching Dj’s and DJ Friends perform, It was through messing around on a pair of old Technics 1200's and borrowing tunes from mates to practice with that my interest grew and I decided to venture into purchasing some of my own Technics 1200's (still one of the best investments I have made). It was from here that I really started to buy vinyls from good sources in London and Germany. Having friends in the business who new their shit helped me source quality music. After experimenting bedroom Dj for some time, I decided to record my own mix just to see the quality of the mixes. As a clubber I enjoyed and was influenced music from the Detroit era listening to likes of Jeff Mills, Derek May, Juan Atkins, Carl Craig and Kevin Saunderson. This gave me exposure to the mechanical sound and an alternative view of music. As I began playing I have noticed that the strength of music such as minimal techno was growing in London and moving in a new direction of techno. Listening to artists such as Plastik man (Richie Hawtin) Ricardo Villalobus and Luciano, Mathew Dear etc. Fortunately for me I was drawn to this new minimal looped based techno. As a result of the new wave of minimal in the mid 2000's I was able to create Minit (an 80 minute of mix of house, techno, electro). The aim of the CD was that it could be used in a club, bar anywhere essentially and it was fusion sounds from the minimal era. It was from this point, old friends who were DJ's began noticing my potential and I would often be asked to play at house parties. After establishing link with like minded DJ's /promoters I was able to plan my first free gig in the basement of a curry house also know as Soho lounge in London. It was from this point I have been able to play as guest and resident at various small but intimate parties. Over the past year, I have been hosting a bimonthly online radio show www.radioweb.tv bringing to listeners an almost after party show on Sundays. Sadly the station had closed down so the show had to come to turbulent end. Recently, I have been venturing in the promotion and running of small intimate parties under the Rumour Parties brand working with a South African partner showcasing new talent along with the residents at the Edinburgh Cellars. My experience of 5 yrs consists of guest appearance at the Jam (Brixton) and supported resident role at the Retoxbar (Covent Garden). Organiser/ promoter of former parties (under the brand rumour parties) in Soho lounge in London. Guest residency at Juno (just add water promotions). Appearance at Casa Club North London and more recently 2008 - Monthly residency with Rumour Parties @ Edinburgh cellars. Contact Gahnshuna@googlemail.com
