| drops of sound melding into a marching-step cadence warring against synth machines gone haywire, begging the question: is this the Kokotec sound? I do not know as we are suddenly hearing an eerie vocalist imploring us to hear her whining song, a scratchy voice in time to this sick and fulsome beat seeking entry as the next incoming track.
Deft mixing provides a certainty that this techno DJ is a magician of the craft and surprises in technique will keep you paying attention (as if you can't STOP paying attention to this surprise of a mixset!). Like earcandy for your aural canals, the sounds are the stars here, tasting of electric blue sours, raccous and colorful blistering wavelength nougats, red hard-edged ribbon sweets, tiny and tangy yellow-green blips of gum, lip-smacking vibratos of chunky peanut nuttiness, and crispy cinnamon snaps, all wrapped up in nice crinkling cellophane wrappers with the words KOKOTEC emblazoned like the herald of a good thing on the tops of each candy. As the mixing is more tight here than an old ladie's drawstring coin purse, I could never tell where one shizzola of a track started and the last one ended! Better than a buffet of fabulous and exotic foods, this mixset will please the most jaded of tech heads and will keep you going back for more, guaranteed. So, standout tracks here a plenty - like that buffet table - too many moments to name. What I did know is that I did NOT want it to end, and was hoping that the dessert table was not in sight! But like a good chapter in a book keeps your interest to read that next chapter in turn, so, too, does this mixset make you long for the next chapter, the next installment where Kokotec brings us a full 9-course meal, with fruit sorbets between all courses to refresh our pallets so we can fully wallow in the decadent filth he has so set before us, like a smorgasbord fit for a Celtic king! Five stars, fully sated, for this Kokotec sound! | |
