| Here we are, a nice fivesome, dancing and carrying on to one of our TOP favorite downloads of the past year, Dogcore's Mission to Mars. Always hits the spot, like a good ale, lager, or spliff. While some are dancing with lights on their fingers, others are being entertained by the colored lights in motion in the dark, listening to such fine tracks as Dirty Mary and Fake Blood. | for the socalde.com , a Burningman event here in Southern California.
This is what he dreamed up in a very short time. As one looks at the set one can see the theme is there, surely, even if it is loose and based on the color red and on the words Mars and the notion of space.... Dogcore knows how to mix it up and make it work. Despite production of short notice, this is a fine example of making odd tracks fit together - no matter how discordant they may be. An octet of tracks mostly dance-worthy, all with the electro and bass and sick lyrics, each one earwormish, each unlike the other, each a bit askew in vision, this Mission to Mars is a complete success. Looking at certain tracks, the two offerings by DJ's From Mars provide the jewels in this journey, but the real treat is the very last track by the Young Punx. A great retro sound and hope from a far, far better time and place. This is a set even the Anunnaki would admire! Five stars for the effort, the tracks, and the talent! Thanks, Dogcore! | |
