| Sultry vocal stylings by Rhythm Code with a sweet, oceanic beat | Posted 06/02/08 by macpromikem |
| brings up the dance energy slowly, then fully, when the music wades out into the harmonic waves of The Cure and The Cause. As you become lost in the dancing waters, you are taken deep, deep down, Five Fathoms Deep
where Sex on Sax attempts to hold you down even longer. This breath-holding seems fitting for the quality track, This Nation, that is, if you live in the new North American Alliance (Canada, Mexico, and the U.S.) and, even if not, the beat of This Nation will make you rise up and dance for freedom - even while it is being taken away from every single TRFM listener - no matter where you live. But, I digress. This Nation plunges you back into the hip waters of Funkash and Need to Feel Loved with a great mixing into Long Distance, a soulful song of deep beating resonance. Moving along you get the Red Face Man number who Breathes right into He Not In, if ever a name for a song that makes no sense, that is the track. After this you've got some SOS and then the vocal lamentation of Take Me With You transitioning to The Beat is Rockin - a great dance tune, to be sure. Bringing up a nice ending fourway to this "One Man Disco Set", No Problem and Yeah Yeah make you kick your heels, while taking a nice tip to a slowdown beat, Tipologia brings you back to the surface realm above water, back to the shore, where Reality provides the ending track to this sound experience and first Live Show for Northern Monkey. A few minor flaws in transistions do not diminish this set and much can be expected if this is the quality of his first show. I will say that the very ending of the track leaves all Americans feeling sad and perhaps a bit miffed and is not really a cool ending in and of itself. I think the regular Americans DO care and it is our Government that is corrupt and full of evil, despicable psychopaths that should be eradicated from position of authority and locked up with no hope of escape. Four stars for everything else. A solid negative one for the ending of the set. | |
